Basic Solar Panel is a device that can be placed to generate energy from the sun.
Unlike the Advanced Solar Panel, the basic one does not adjust to the sun, and is therefore only collecting an ideal amount of energy when the sun is directly above.
It consists of a baseblock the pole and a solar aray that is 3x3 in size. When placed on flat land solar arrays need at least 2 block between each other.
Energy Production Rates
The Advanced Solar Panel is affected by environment conditions. Rains and snowfall can block the sunlight and shut down the panels. But also, the environment can offer better or worse sunlight supply, for example, in an airless environment like the Moon provides more sunlight than on Overworld.
Below is a list of maximum energy generation per dimension with environmental boost between parentheses, at 8:00 (AM) and 12:00 (noon):
- Overworld: 1.78 kW, 4.50 kW (0%)
- Overworld Space Station: 3.55 kW, 9.00 kW (100%)
- Moon: 2.48 kW, 6.30 kW (40%)
- Mars: 1.78 kW, 4.50 kW (0%)
Tip: To know how many solar panels you need to install, sum all energy power (kW) demanded by the machines in your base/installations, then multiply this total by 2 (because the solar panels work only during daytime) and then divide it by the energy generation of one solar panel at 8:00, plus 1 or 2 solar panels for safety.
