Alternatively, you can use Tekkit from the technic launcher here: http://www.technicpack.net/ which installs Galacticraft and other mods that use Thermal Expansion, for the sake of this tutorial we are going to use Tekkit.

Now, before you get into space, you need lots of preparation.

Setting Up

You can't go into space without the mod installed! You will need to download:

  • 1.5.1/1.5.2 Forge Recommended Build
  • 1.5.1/1.5.2 Basic Components (Optional, if you want to start up Minecraft without IC2/Thermal Expansion, go into the Galacticraft config and change the option 'Force Start'. [This exact option text may change, look for something similar!]
  • 1.5.1 GalactiCraft

or

  • 1.5.2 Dev Build (GalacticCraft) - WARNING, USE WITH CAUTION!

(It helps to use some other addons for Basic Components to make the gameplay easier.) Once you have all of these mods, follow the steps to install each of the mods. When you have installed them, and your Minecraft loads up and doesn't crash, you may start your adventure to space!

Alternatively, you can use Tekkit from the technic launcher here: http://www.technicpack.net/ which installs Galacticraft and other mods that use Thermal Expansion, for the sake of this tutorial we are going to use Tekkit.
